Well, here it is. The follow up to last year’s phenomenal Avengers: Infinity War. Don’t worry, there’s no spoilers in here!

Each member of the Fair City team selected Infinity War as their pick of the films for last year but when the first trailer dropped for Endgame, it didn’t seem to capture that same level of hype. Slowly but surely though, they’ve ramped up their campaign and the fear that this might not be as good as what came before began to fall away, but those fears were never truly gone. Until now.

Summary

This is another top class movie by Marvel and I don’t think it’s a stretch to say that this is a masterpiece. It starts with a bit of a cold open, showing the aftermath of the Decimation and once again tugs hard at the heart strings, quickly building tension before wrapping up almost as abruptly as it started.

Throughout the second act the film slows a little as we visit a number of locations, as the heroes try desperately to undo Thanos’ work but it becomes clear that it will take all of their strengths working together and even then, we wonder if it will be enough.

The final act kicks back into the high gear as the heroes make their desperate last stand and what a stand it is! Everyone gets their chance to shine and I can’t begin to talk about what happens here, its far, far too spoilery but what I will say, is that it’s a fitting end to an unbelievable journey.

The Good

At this point, pretty much everything! If you felt that some characters got the short end of things in Infinity War, that’s not a concern here. Despite having even more characters and even higher stakes, somehow every character is given their moment in the spotlight.

There are some truly beautiful character moments, some will have you smiling, others will bring a tear to your eye.

The final act will be something we talk about for a long, long time.

The not so good

Check back later, I’ve got nothing.

Score and final thoughts

At this point I really cannot find a bad thing to say and because of that I have to give it a 10/10. The film hit every beat it needed to hit. Wrapping up several character arcs and setting the foundations for the future. While still giving every character a chance to shine and somehow still telling a clear story. Maybe the score will drop on repeat viewings, as little things start to pop up but right now, I cannot recommend this film highly enough.
