It’s safe to say that there were more than a few people who felt slightly burned by the Alien: Blackout announcement but it seems that Blackout is not the only Alien game they have in development.
The very last line in the official press release announcing Alien: Blackout had an important reminder about FoxNext’s other big Alien project.
Last year it emerged that Cold Iron Studios were working on an Alien shooter for PC and consoles. FoxNext, the games division of 20th Century Fox, acquired the studio at the time, but it’s been radio silence since.
When the Alien: Blackout trademark was unearthed ahead of The Video Game Awards, many immediately assumed it was Cold Iron’s game getting revealed at the show.
This turned out to not be true, but Fox was keen to confirm that Cold Iron’s project is still in progress.
“FoxNext Games’ studio, Cold Iron Studios, is also currently at work on a massively multiplayer online shooter set in the Alien cinematic universe for consoles, and PC,” the press release reads.
So it seems that it’s not just a mobile game we have coming out, but an MMO style shooter? Why can’t we just have our sequel to Isolation?! There’s no actual details to be had as yet, so anything could happen between now and release, if it even gets released.
How do you feel about an MMO shooter? Is it more or less interesting than the mobile game? I’ll probably play it anyway!
