Deadline have reported that the sequel to Bumblebee is in development now. The film passed $400Million worldwide over the last few days and while not amazing numbers it seems to have done just enough to get a follow up.
Lorenzo Di Bonaventura who has been with the franchise since its beginning said:-
“We had many objectives (including) to bring a new set of families into the series, and that succeded; in the after markets that will continue to succeed in a big way”
“Part of our obligation was to bring people back who had left the franchise or never experienced it which worked well… We are finding our way. Our intention was we wanted to please the core fans but also bring a new audience”
With the end of Bumblebee having reunited Optimus it seems likely that the two will be front and centre of any follow up.
