Last year we wrote about how the cast of 2017’s Power Rangers wanted back to do a follow up. Hasbro CEO Brian Goldner has been speaking to investors during his quarterly call, when the subject of The Rangers came up.

Hasbro is in talks with Paramount Pictures on what to do with the franchise. There had been rumours for a while that something may happen, but this is the first official word of Paramounts involvement.

It makes a lot of sense for Hasbro to be chatting to them. Paramount have done the Transformers and GI Joe franchises, so there is already a clearly established working relationship there.

No word yet if it will be a sequel or another reboot for now but with a 2021 release looking the earliest that it may arrive, making a direct sequel becomes a lot harder due to the ascension of the cast members.

Pink Ranger Naomi Scott is in this years Aladdin, which will no doubt cause her stardom to ascend to a great height. Red Ranger Dacre Montgomery followed up Power Rangers with a star turn in Stranger Things Season 2 while Black Ranger Ludi Lin went on to appear in Aquaman.

I much enjoyed the reboot, so if this is the end of the road for the cast then I for one, will be sad.
